Comment:

 I've managed to reproduce the problem with a clean .purple directory:

 The problem occures only when the evolution-integration plugin is
 activated.

 When I launch Pidgin, a buddy group called "Buddys" is created that
 contains each of my XMPP contacts for each account except the one that the
 buddy belongs to. For me, this resulted in 203(!) buddies being in the
 "Buddys" group. When one of my buddies goes online, he appears to send a
 presence subscription request to me. When I accept any of these requests,
 the remote user often complains:
 {{{
 (2008-02-11 13:45:32) **********: one Address of yours should be enough,
 shouldn't it?
 }}}

 '''Workarounds''':
 First possibility: Disable evolution-integration for XMPP-accounts.
 Second possibility: Don't put any desired buddies into the "Buddys" group
 and delete the group called "Buddys" each time after launching Pidgin.
 Never accept authorization requests that resulted from this bug.
