 That's exactly what I am doing now.

 To me, it seems that disabling evolution-integration for all XMPP accounts
 is not enough. In order to fix the problem, I needed to disble evolution-
 integration completely.

 The second workaround that I have posted doesn't work well. Deleting the
 unwanted buddy group sometimes resultes into crashes if the plugin is
 still enabled.
