 I see the same problem with Google Chat, i.e., I see what I type, and an
 indication of what "they" are typing, but I don't see what they send in my
 pidgin 2.3.1 window.  I am running RHEL4.  I didn't try Google Chat with
 my earlier 2.0.x version of gaim.  Other protocols that I use - Yahoo!,
 AIM, IRC, and MSC - all seem to work fine.
