 OK, I know you didn't ask, but I got a friend to use Google Talk from
 their webui (instead of from Pidgin) and he tried to send me an IM.  I had
 the debug window open.  In particular, I saw this line in the debug
 window:

 But I did '''not''' see that text in my regular Pidgin 2.3.1 IM pane.  I
 confirmed he sent the text that started "Looks like snow..."

 I have lightly "sanitized" the message above to minimize email-scraping;
 specifically, the "xxxxx" is part of his username and the "ggggg" is
 "gmail".  Otherwise it is what I saw in my debug window.
