 I think adding support for custom emoticons sending would require (just as
 for web/mic support) some backward engineering, since thre aren't many
 details known about the MSN protocol.

 A way to shrink custom emoticons received through MSN seems like it should
 be available through the means of a plugin. If one doesn't exist, try
 making one yourself, or find an excited programmer to do it for you.
