That the native client can still connect means that it is using one of the
fallback connection methods for restrictive networks. Pidgin doesn't do
this automatically, but you can try the "HTTP Method" checkbox in the
"Advanced" section of the account setup to see if that'll let you connect.
thanks for your help. the HTML method doesn't work either. here is the

I have a working theory that this may be related to Belkin routers. have
you experienced anything similar? I have just switched from a zoom x6
that allowed messenger to work fine for all clients, but now with the
belkin 54g I have these problems...do you have any ideas around this? I
have tried playing with the MTU settings on my linux box, but without
success :(
