Comment:

 For the conversation title, you should set an alias for the buddy if she
 has a ridiculously long nick (press F11 in the buddy list).

 For the timestamp, I would rather make it changeable from a plugin, like
 in pidgin using a 'conversation-timestamp' signal.
 Or there could be a plugin that would print a detailed date+time after a
 regular interval, or after some idle time. Simply changing the time format
 is probably not an improvement.
