Comment:

 The behavior you're describing isn't the intended behavior, the taskbar
 (and window) should flash 3 times and remain highlighted and the system
 tray icon should flash continuously until the message window is focused.

 Are you using any plugins or some sort of virtual desktop/alternative
 window manager utility?
