Comment:

 Automatic downloading of dependencies isn't something configure scripts
 tend to do, nor is it something that can always reasonably be done. Both
 apt and yum support automatic fetching of the dependencies needed to build
 a package the way the official package is supposed to be built (apt-get
 build-dep <package> and yum-builddep <package>). Those are the correct
 mechanisms by which to fetch a set of dependencies when the list is not
 something you know offhand.
