 While this may be true among Pidgin developers, I haven't seen any
 evidence presented that this is a superior UI decision, except the hand-
 wavy argument that fewer windows are better.  Personally, since this
 feature launched I have heard it cursed far more often than appreciated
 (because it makes it so easy to forget your status is set - particularly
 for away), and the only place I've seen it lauded is on the Pidgin site.
 Is there a reason it is problematic to enable a preference for choosing
 this behavior?
