Comment (by Athan):
I'm seeing this as well. The thing is it's gotten even worse since I
upgraded from Debian Etch (stable currently) to Lenny (testing currently).
This bumped the GTK+ library from version 2.8 to 2.10. With 2.8 pidgin
would only steal the focus on the monitor it is running in, but that was
annoying enough. If my mouse/focus was in the other monitor it would stay
there. Now with 2.10 it steals it across the screens/monitors !
I'm using 2 monitors, nvidia GF 8600 GT with the nvidia drivers, X.org,
the two monitors each set up as their own screen and an fvwm2 instance
running on each as the WM (fvwm2 does this automatically with multiple
Screens unless you tell it no to). This is orthogonal to the problem
however.
The principle time I see this with pidgin is when one of my accounts
disconnects and I get asked if I want to modify the account or reconnect.
Pidgin 2.4.2 compiled from vanilla sources, with the only additional
plugin being Guifications.
So, just HOW do I stop pidgin demanding focus when this happens ?
Something to throw at gconftool-2 would suffice.
