 Reread the original bug report. I just tried it again. Half-way through
 typing in the password for my passworded-account, the buddy-list popped
 up. Almost immediately after, the conversation window popped up with focus
 in the message-typing area.

 I cannot find anything in preferences related to window raising or focus
 changing (although I can in GAIM 1.5.1).

 So I understand this, what hints are you setting on what windows?
