Comment:

 As I indicated pidgin does not yet do toaster popups itself, but the
 guifications plugin does (and should, if it doesn't already, be able to
 give you disconnection popups). pidgin doesn't "spring" the buddy list
 anywhere itself, but it does set the urgency hint (which some window
 managers can and do interpret as a request to be given focus). It is not
 possible to configure pidgin not to set the urgency hint but in reasonable
 window managers it should be possible to configure how they respond to the
 urgency hint. On Windows we just request that Windows flash the window I
 believe, which shouldn't cause the window to pop up under any
 circumstances as far as I know.
