 I completely agree. But you see, "usable" means different things for
 different people. I, for example, would like to type longer messages to my
 friends than fits the box. So now I have to scroll, which is not
 impossible but also not very user friendly.

 So, in effect, you're defining here what an "IM" message is and what a
 "EMAIL" message is. Whats the count of characters where we draw this line?
 Does everybody draw this line at the same count? I'm simply being pro-
 choice here - let everybody select what he or she wants, which is
 luckily(!) rather easy here.
