Comment (by rfgiusti):
I'd like to register my complains about this new feature.
'''I'm smart enough to configure my own preferences:''' I don't like when
applications change my personal preferences. I like to have a large input
field for IMming and I don't feel good about the application forcing me to
accept the developers' standard of look & feel.
'''I'm used to the old resizeable input area:''' I don't know why Pidgin
has been changing so much, but that's annoying me. Do you want to improve
Pidgin? Great! Thank you for the great effort in making Pidgin better. But
let us choose whether we'd like to change to the new exciting features or
stick to the old ones.
'''The four lines limit is arbitrary:''' why four lines? Who said that's a
reasonable limit? I strongly disagree. That's not how I use IM.
'''Pidgin is not for short messages, it's for IM:''' who said I should
write short messages with Pidgin? Even MSN, the most crippled IM protocol
ever, allows me to write nearly 1KB of text! That's not short.
'''The resizing feature is distracting and buggy:''' when the input area
resizes, it changes the height of the last received/sent message and also
the number of text lines shown in the conversation window. That's
distracting and annoying. Not to mention that, often, the input area
resizes (in my installation, but I won't open another ticket) even thought
no text liens have been added.
Because of all that, I would like to be able to deactivate that feature
and stick to the old behavior.
