 Actually, the reverse-engineering has already been done. There even exists
 a Facebook Chat client written totally in Ruby:
 http://coderrr.wordpress.com/2008/05/06/facebook-chat-api/ (note: the ruby
 version may not work if you don't have the needed gems, and you might have
 to add '''require 'RubyGems'''' as the first line of the code, but that's
 not important here) Hopefully someone will pick this up and add the needed
 support to libpurple.
