 Oh, indeed there is!

 I came to the conclusion that there was no default sound when I tested
 pressing preview and making a test pounce while having `Mute Sounds'
 selected. (Incidentally, I wonder if Preview shouldn't override Mute
 Sounds, since the user is specifically asking for a sound at that moment.)
