 The sound entry in the pounce dialog should probably work like the entry
 in the preferences dialog (if you want to work on a patch for that that
 would be great, if not I'll get to it at some point). The Test buttons in
 the preferences temporarily disable muting so that the test sound works
 even then, the pounce test callback could likely be made to do the same.
