 I would like to discuss the possibility to reopen this ticket.

 Indeed, it is possible to fix this behavior by setting options in gtkrc.
 But this approach is far from being user-friendly: pretend your girlfriend
 wanting to change the bindings. I don't think she'd like messing with
 those weird config files. Pidgin is all about usability. Don't you think
 removing such (vital) configuration options from preferences dialog is not
 the best idea?
