Comment:

 Is your problem that the icon in the titlebar seems to have suffered more
 from the resizing? If so have you realized that they are different size
 icons in the buddy list selector area and in the titlebar? And that the
 smaller an icon needs to be resized the more data/quality loss there is?
 Can you resize the icon to the size needed for the titlebar area and keep
 it at what you consider a reasonable quality?
