 For XMPP, I noticed that it uses 100% when I have offline buddies turned
 on.  This also happens if I ask it to show offline buddies and then have
 it merge some offline buddies.  The CPU usage goes to 100% for an
 inordinate length of time and then it settles down after a few minutes and
 continues.

 What I am hinting at is that the problem seems to be related to offline
 buddies - I am running Pidgin 2.5.2 under Windows XP.  Thanks, sriram.
