 Clarification:

 This only happens when I close the entire conversation window (containing,
 in my case, four persistent chats) and then re-open them (in a newly-
 created GTK conversation window, the markerlines don't update, but when
 re-adding a tab to the existing conversation window, the markerlines
 update).
