 I understand, thanks for explaining. :-)

 Back on topic, I've tried the other options in the Preferences, but
 basically I'm not fond of using tabs in conversation windows.

 So what I would like pidgin to remember two different sizes, one for IM
 windows and one for chat windows. Now that I explored better the other
 options in the Preferences, I wouldn't call this a bug, but an
 enhancement. Not very bothering anyway since I use few chat windows and
 many IM ones, so the "problem" of resizing windows happens only once a
 day.
