 In fact, the bug appears to be almost exactly as before, if I cover up the
 window, then later uncover it, the time is not updated until either I
 manually refresh it, e.g. by clicking on the buddy to highlight it, or it
 ticks over to the next minute. So now there seem to be two problems:

 1. For some reason the display sometimes goes back to 0m even when the
 idle time has not.

 2. The idle time is not updated by uncovering the window, only by either
 the time itself changing, or by causing the time to be redrawn by e.g.
 highlighting or unhighlighting the buddy.
