 I restarted if, of course :) And it worked. If you compare my two
 screenshots, you'll see spaces are smaller.
 But still too large, and I'm pretty sure it's because of the icons. It's
 shown on second screen. Of course if I used bigger fonts, there would be
 no spaces, as text would fill them. But I like such small fonts, and it
 would be great to make use of additional space.

 So I guess removing icons (but to still have buddy's statuses) would be
 solution. It is already reported in Ticket #2032.
