 I assume that you have attached a backward diff.

 The changes from #5889 were partially reverted in
 [7a490c356e10f7fff3432f875897aa0ca0ad1ff0] because they leaked.

 There must be more than one scenario here, I'll look more carefully at
 what is going on.
