Old description:

New description:

 I add an AIM account to Pidgin and go to Accounts>[Aim Account]>Set user
 info.  Paste in some text.  Now try to change the foreground color.  I
 highlight the text, click on Font>Foreground Color and select a color.
 When I hit OK, I find my text is now unselected and unchanged.  Nothing I
 do will get the new foreground color to apply to existing text, making
 altering pasted text apparently impossible.

 Edit: this also affects status messages.

Comment:

 Updating this as it's still broken in 2.5.2, and adding the fact that it
 also affects status messages.  Fortunately, I've made another observation
 that may make this easier to fix.  The selected text in the Status or User
 info boxes is de-selected when and only when the user clicks in one of the
 text fields of the Select Text Color box.  If I drag the big arrow around
 to select the color, it will apply successfully.  If I try to edit the
 colors by hand instead (which I usually do), the text is de-selected and
 the foreground color does not apply.
