Comment:

 I am not using anything special. I have tested a bit and find that
 whenever my wallpaper changer switches background Pidgin memory grows. If
 I change wallpaper manually (dispaly/properties/desktop...) memory does
 not grow. The other times Pigin memory grows seem to be when something
 makes Windows force a repaint of all windows. It grows also if I stretch
 or otherwise changes the Pidgin window. Not strange that memory is
 requested during those operations but I guess it should have been released
 afterwards.
