 No, I am only using one non-default plugin, which is the Skype one.

 This fault has now occured twice. I manually added all the accounts back,
 it worked for a few days, involving a few power cycles for the
 machine, and when I turned it on again yesterday all the details were
 gone again. This is now a pretty serious problem!

 Could it be the Skype plugin? Or something to do with the machine
 being turned on and off whilst Pidgin is running? Recently for reasons
 unrelated to Pidgin the machine's power management has started failing -
 could it be anything to do with coming back from suspend incorrectly?
