 I am not sure its exactly the same thing, but I am having similar issues
 since installing 2.5.1. First of all, when upgrading, i got the message
 asking if i should replace my gtk files. I said yes. The install said it
 failed. Yet when I ran pidgin, it said it was v2.5.1.

 I was suspicious after not being able to connect to msn, so i uninstalled
 pidgin, and uninstalled gtk. I then installed pidgin with no errors, and
 yet msn does not connect. I did try checking Accounts->MSN
 Account->Advanced Tab->Use HTTP method. This worked (sort of) but I would
 often receive errors saying that the send of a message failed.

 I also attempted to upgrade plugins (guifications) to latest version, and
 have even disabled all plugins to no avail.

 Out of irritation, I again uninstalled and reinstalled pidgin. I also
 deleted my msn account in the account manager and recreated from scratch.
 Lo and behold, the MSN account connected correctly ("use http method" was
 not checked). It appeared the problem was solved, and then i closed
 pidgin.

 When I reopened, my msn account again failed to connect.

 How might I generate a debug log (to see if it is similar to sarkha's)? Do
 i have to do a debug build?
