Comment:

 In a standard build/install of pidgin all of the protocols are provided by
 plugins that are automatically loaded. Simply removing the unwanted
 protocol plugins will keep pidgin from presenting them in the Add Account
 dialog. This will not prevent users from installing their own protocol
 plugins however, if that is desired then a static-protocol build of pidgin
 will need to be created (something I am unsure even works at this point,
 it has a tendency to break every now and then because virtually no one
 does it).
