 I completely uninstalled the pidgin using the control panel,. then I
 entered the program files directory and renamed the directory, so in the
 next install it would not recognize it.

 Nevertheless,... it still get stuck now on version 2.5.8 --
 Further more it get stuck in such a way, that I can not even close the
 process using the task manager or standard windows functions... I must
 hard reset the machine otherwise it won't remove the halted process from
 memory.

 I am using vista x64 -- though, there are plenty of applications
 installed... I do not know if or what other application might cause
 that... in addition I got a bundle of drivers that I use in order to
 access usb devices,. but I do not think that the problem is because of one
 of these things, or the previous issue that I mentioned... because it
 worked properly 3 months ago,. while before it completely didn't load it
 worked on and off...

 Please advice, or solve that issue.
