 I fail to understand why so much discussion/delay for this minor thing?
 There are so many features in Pidgin that official client does not
 support.


 And if there is a concern abt Pidgin being blocked if it sends such
 request then let me remind that unlike PING which used to happen in
 background, this would require user interaction. So when user opts to DO
 this, we can alert him that:


 This feature is not an official feature and its likely that Yahoo wud
 detect it and block your client. In that case, simply relogin and DONT USE
 the feature. :D


 Or we can have a global flag called "Allow unofficial features", which if
 checked will ENABLE all the features that official client dont support.
 This can also make way for further more features which are not in official
 client, without worrying abt Yahoo disconnecting for offering unofficial
 features.


 I hope I am able to put my point.
