 Disabling all the plugins does not make any difference.

 Now, as for the buddy icons, there are 366 files in the folder, totalling
 5.3 Mib. Only 6 of those files are over 35 Kib in filesize (and those are
 local, custom-set icons that I assigned to certain buddies).

 My personal icon is 100x100 or less, roughly 16kb or less.
