 Pidgin will send a composing message initially if the user has typing
 notifications enabled.

 Pidgin also currently checks (but will stop checking in 2.6.2) if the
 remote entity advertises support for XEP-0085 in its Entity Capabilities
 output. It will stop checking to remain compatible with older versions of
 Pidgin, which did not advertise the xep-0085 feature.

 It sounds like what you're saying is that a remote user sends a message to
 Pidgin without an <active/> sub-element, Pidgin will continue sending
 typing notifications? Is this correct? If so, please attach the
 Help->Debug Window output (the <message/> stanzas exchanged and the
 <presence/> stanzas too, if possible).
