 Ha, I somehow managed to miss/forget about the blinking icon setting all
 this time!  Thanks.

 I've seen an envelope icon amongst Pidgin's tray icons, but never seen it
 in use (perhaps related to email notifications which I don't use.)

 Perhaps the (non)bolding of the buddy name is related to the new theme
 support?  Best guess at the moment.
