 As skliarie correctly points out, the gmail user needs to be the one to
 initiate the conference.

 If someone wants to file a ticket to allow Pidgin users to initiate the
 chat, that's fine, but it's not going to happen unless someone finds
 documentation on how a third-party client is supposed to do that; I can
 neither find any documentation on that nor how to start a chatroom on
 gropuchat.google.com.
