 Exactly the same problem but with pidgin 2.6.1 on debian linux. A couple
 of days ago I have upgraded pidgin to 2.6.1 through package manager and
 everything was ok. Today I have rebooted my computer and now I have to
 disable and re-enable accounts to get connected.
 Note: I have changed my hardware and reconfigured xorg but I believe this
 can't influence pidgin.
