 It seems like this is not the case in 2.5.8.  In that old version, line
 breaks are indeed converted to spaces (I think this is HTML parsing,
 converting any whitespace to space).  When I insert a line break with a BR
 tag in 2.5.8, it does not expand the panel, only showing the first line of
 the topic.
