 I tried the steps mentioned, and it changed the status just fine.

 Does this issue appear only for a few seconds/minutes after you have
 logged in, or is reproducible even after several minutes.

 Take a look at ticket #10052, is this the same problem as yours.

 Please attach the full debug log for the problem.
