 Experiencing this in my kde 4.3.2/debian testing.

 What I can tell is that it only happens once, the first time I start
 pidgin. I don't have it started in the session, just manually. The second
 time all goes fine.

 Is there anything I can do to help you track this behavior? Can do
 anything you need to.
