Comment:

 Was that a confirmation that you can't copy and paste between pidgin and
 firefox? Or a statement that only URLs fail (while both normal and
 formatted text work correctly)? I suspect that something is preventing
 formatted text copy and paste from working (hence why I asked about
 clipboard managers) but which allows plain text copy and paste to work
 (which is why I asked whether copying from firefox works, since it copies
 formatted text when the pasting application supports it).
