 deryni: I'm not _completely_ certain which of those last two comments are
 or aren't for me, so I'm going to try to address them.

 I see the rationale for me opening a new ticket, although I don't actually
 know how to open a new ticket here.  If I have a bit more time I'll give
 it a try.

 If I copy text, including a link FROM Firefox, it pastes fine anywhere,
 including into Pidgin (with a functional link)  In my opinion this mostly
 rules out a clipboard manager issue...

 If I copy text FROM Pidgin it pastes into a FF textfield fine... I think
 because it's pasting it as plain text (like it does into a text editor,
 which also works fine)

 But text copied FROM Pidgin has a valid text-only-part and an invalid or
 nonexistent rich-text-part...  even when pasting back into Pidgin.
 (Without using 'paste as plaintext')
