 In my experience, I believe so.

     The problems that I seem to experience are that when the hyperlinks
 stop cooperating, sound generally stopped working right before, log files
 stop working sometime close after, and then emoticons stop functioning.
 about half an hour later or so, pidgin crashes without any warning or
 error message.
