 Ah, and I think that we determined in IRC that the problem is caused by
 the Ubuntu pulseaudio or gstreamer, or whatever it is that handles sound
 for pidgin. Something to do with too many file-pointers being opened. and
 none of them being closed. and that the problem can't be fixed in pidgin
 itself.
