Comment:

 I know that some offline messages are lost, and since I always resent
 messages until no error is shown, it seems to happen without "service
 unavailable" as well. I also talked to my brother, he's using Trillian and
 sometimes he doesn't get his messages through to me. So maybe the problem
 isn't Pidgin specific, maybe Trillian just doesn't notice or relay "reason
 5".

 Maybe it's ICQ being faulty regarding offline messages. And since neither
 the original client nor Trillian lets the user know about "reason 5" noone
 complains because most people don't notice a lost offline message or don't
 care.

 Is there any way to find out whether ICQ has a problem here or if the
 Pidgin implementation of the aim protocol is outdated?
