 I just had the problem miohtama descibed. Searched my ass of to get rid of
 that annoying blinking. I thought it was not possible and wanted to open a
 new enhancement request when I found this ticket.

 It never occurred to me that I should look in the tray menu. This option
 should definitely (also) go into preferences - I cannot see how this would
 hurt.
