 Yes, when I am talking with my friends over irc (I am norwegian), I use
 UTF-8 encoding, while my friends use iso-* encoding, for me norwegian
 characters like æ, ø and å is in the messages from my friends, they appear
 as ?, ?, and ?, while for them they appear normally, but when they switch
 to utf-8, they appear correctly for.

 Because of this pidgin has gained a bad reputation with use on irc. And I
 really want this fixed since I like a lot the way irc works with pidgin.
