 Oh, sorry, I misread part of that.  Unfortunately, now that I understand
 what you're saying, there isn't anything I can see in that code which
 would work differently based on your IM.  I suppose it is possible that it
 doesn't actually send the focus request immediately because your IM is in
 compose mode, but I don't think there is anything that we can do
 differently (as soon as we see a key released that isn't handled elsewhere
 (such as a tab switch), we focus the entry field and pass that key event
 to it).

 So, I guess the question is whether or not we are actually getting the key
 events correctly for those first couple characters.
