 Hi, thanks for the quick reply.  So here's some more info:  Using "cool"
 as the example text for this problem... if the cursor and pidgin window
 are in focus, and the cursor is on the chat log part... and i hit the
 first character "c"...  it will actually do the transition, take anywhere
 from .3 to .5 seconds, and then change the focus... so it actually is
 getting the keys, it's just not instant like I'm used to...

 So, technically speaking, if I want to still have "cool" on my text input,
 if I type it slowly, it will show up completely as "cool"; if I type it
 instantly (I type fast), it will either show up as "ool" or "ol'.

 Any more thoughts?  Am I SOL?
